Half Day Ride
Per Person: $75 –
Our ½-day horseback ride is a true horseback adventure. We leave ranch headquarters and climb nearly 2,000 vertical feet, through three different coastal vegetative zones, to the summit of Refugio Canyon. The summit borders former President Reagan's beloved Rancho Cielo. Here, the views and the flora and fauna are second to none.
The ride heads out through the fern-lined Indian Canyon with its spectacular sycamores, oaks, and fragrant bay trees. As we climb out of the Indian Canyon, on our way to the mountain cove homestead, we enter sage, ceanosis, and yucca country.
At the homestead, we water the horses and take in the atmosphere – there are relics of the old homestead that was farmed into the early 1940's.
From there, we head up to the summit and pass into heavier woods that are cloaked with oaks, manzanita, and a madrone forest. This part of the ranch borders former President Reagan's western White House. As we enjoy the peacefulness and the spectacular views, we can understand why President Reagan spent so much time there.
We then leave the summit and head down the mountain. During the trip back, we enjoy vast views, all the way from Pt. Dume to Point Conception.
